My Story

Luna

                                                      The Wolf


The cold snow was covering Luna's fur. Luna is now a lone wolf. She had been kicked out of her clan for not  bowing down to her leader. It was a cold winter. "Why did I not bow down? Why wouldn't be smart and stayed in the pack for one of the coldest  winters?" Luna grunted.  Luna was getting hungry. She tried to catch a sent of anything that could be food. Nothing was in sight.  " Everything is migrating or hibernating" Luna said to herself.  The sun was going down. Soon Luna caught a sent of a rabbit. She crouched down and made her feet weightless. The rabbits ears perked up. Luna leaped and grabbed the rabbit. She carried it to some piled up rocks that would make a nice den. She lay down and started to eat the rabbit. She ate the whole thing. She didn't want any other wolves coming hungry. She stared outside. " I hope this is better than living with the pack" Luna thought. She started to go to sleep.  When she woke up she was up to her ankles in snow. It was colder than last night. "It's freezing" Luna grunted. Luna was ready to hunt. She did not smell anything but she walked outside of her den. She sniffed the air. She smelled a herd of buffalo. She smelled a weak calf. She got in a hunting position. She stalked the herd. Soon she was just close enough  that the buffalo heard her. "Shoot" Luna said to herself. "I guess I should go look for a new den." Luna thought.  She didn't want to stay in one spot because her sent would be very strong in that area so other wolves would find her better. She walked around for a while until she found another den. She sat there to rest for a second before she tried to catch food again. She didn't smell anything, so she stayed put. "Chirp Chip" the birds were crying for their mother. Luna got in another hunting position. This time she climbed up the tree. Luna knew these chicks didn't know how to fly yet. Luna reached out and grabbed two. She leaped from the tree and went back to her new den.  Soon Luna heard a wolf pack. It didn't smell like her clan. It smelled like one that was nice and didn't kick you out. Luna still didn't want to be seen or smelled, but she could tell they already smelled her. She sat down. She knew it was hopeless. The pack came closer to her. "What are you doing here Luna" asked the leader of the pack. "Star" Luna couldn't help being so happy. Star was a good friend of hers. "My pack kicked me out" Luna replied. "Why?" Star asked." I didn't bow to my leader " Luna said.  "You can join my pack" Star finally said. "Really?" Luna was shocked. "Yes. Come with us." Star said. Luna followed Star. From then on Luna was never hungry or tired. Luna was happy with her new life.
